Happy 2011.

I hope everyone had the New Year’s celebration that they dreamt about, and that everyone drank precisely as much as they meant to drink.  We’re all a year older now, but we’re all still alive.

We watched HBO’s documentary Public Speaking, the Martin Scorcese-directed conversation with Fran Lebowitz.  It’s out of their rotation as of this morning, but it is a must-watch.  Conversations about making stuff and not making stuff are difficult unless you are Fran Lebowitz.  She straddles so perfectly the roles of subject and object, of the looker and the looked-upon.  We should all be so confident, and I say let’s keep talking about making stuff in 2011.  Let’s keep making stuff in 2011.  When we can’t make stuff, let’s talk about why in 2011.
