I am a Boston-based, Milwaukee-raised freelance fine art painter.  I’m a painter because I like to make things.   My studio philosophy is:

1.  Make more work to make good work.

2.  Be a good citizen.

3.  Keep working.

My interests include: playing the banjo, making things, not having leukemia, pirates, crossword puzzles, mix tapes, palindromes, various forms of communication, handtools, and lists.

Ya ain’t no lady but ya sure is a painter! I want one of those huge self-portraits. Are those for sale, Ms. Commerce?

  3. Wow Amy….I am so glad I got to see your site. I LOVE the chickens so much. I love all of it but I totally see what you mean about chickens being so painterly perfect…I think Soutine thought the same thing! It’s all such well conceived and well executed work…..Going to check out the rest now. So glad you posted it o FB – didn’t know you had a website and I love to look at stuff…If your studio was in Manhattan, or I lived in MA, I would sneak cookies and homemade pastels under your door…..(cuz I wouldn’t want to bother you or take you away from your work but I would want to show the love!) This is awesome! Thanks for sharing XXOXOXOX- L

Wow, thanks ladies! Niki, they are for sale, but they’re in storage in Milwaukee. They’re bigguns (6′ x 4′). If you have the room, you are an amazing woman. I think the middle one of the three (Indeterminativa) is the best one.

Girl, I love your brain. Your comments and sass online are so sharp- they do inspire and provoke thinking and creativity -vs- not….. (like me)! You are the most gifted woman I know. I will follow you wherever you may go- Fan for years, friend for life. CUTER!!! (could you be?) bravo mumma! xo LOVING!

  10. Hi Amy,

I just happened to see your LinkedIn profile & now website. I noticed the name sounded familiar. When you say you were raised in Milwaukee, was part of that time in Whitefish Bay part of Milwaukee? I was just curious because I remember going to girl scouts a long time ago in Whitefish Bay with someone with your name. I live in the pacific northwest, (Seattle region and Portland, Oregon region).

    Interesting artwork!
